The Killer State Will Fall!

We marched

Full of energy

Chanted slogans

Reject the finance bill!

Ruto must go!

Our homeland or death!

Better must come!

Clear on what we wanted

What we had was our voice

But the state used force, snipers

Killed young innocent people

Who were not armed

Who couldn’t defend themselves

Their bodies fell beside us

As we marched to parliament

As we demanded for accountability

For representation of our voices

Their bodies lay lifeless on the ground

How I wish their parents knew

Maybe they would have hugged them today

They would have held them a little bit longer

How I wish that we all knew

As we demonstrated we would have shielded them

How heinous it is

A gross violation of human rights

Does gross violation even explain it better?

What word can I use for it?

A word that can express how angry and bitter I am

The killer state decided to rob them of their lives

Did Ruto say he wanted to talk

Now we see what he meant?

His hand man Kindiki threatened us

The day before

So the right to life and to protest no longer applies in this country

A country where dictatorship is thriving

The west is happy

That their puppet Ruto is dealing with us as he should

Then they will stand and utter the word ‘human rights’

I hope someday they pay for all the damage and pain endured in this neocolonial state

Salute comrades!

You sacrificed yourselves for the struggle!

But today we will not type rest in peace

How can we?

When you were murdered in broad daylight

What peace when this killer state will still continue to murder other people

And when it’s still in power

May your blood water more seeds for the revolution

May we remember you, chant your names

And may we fight now more than ever for this country with all we have

You comrades showed us the way

Courage was written all over your faces

And that is how we will remember you

This Kenya Kwisha regime will pay

The killer state will fall, soon

This is the only justice we owe you

A change of the system

A revolution

Salute comrades!
