“It shall come to pass” is a phrase, a memorable one, found in the Bible in the book of Acts. (2:17-38, King James Version)
It reads:
“And it shall come to pass in the last days, God says,
I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh:
And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
And your young men shall see visions,
and your old men shall dream dreams.”
The phrase is used in the context of this publication to point out that most of the predictions that were made of the current regime in power in Kenya shall come to pass. It was specifically not lost on many that with the top leadership of the current regime having been ardent students and proteges of the past Moi-KANU dictatorship, they would follow to the letter the rule book of dictatorship. Some of the evils associated with dictatorship are coming to pass. Leadership based on ethnic loyalty and marginalization is coming to pass while unbridled capitalism is cushioning the imperial interests of the creeping dictatorship.
Articles in this 14th issue of Ukombozi Review highlight some of the manifestations of the evolving dictatorship and the intensification of neo-liberalism. The gist of these articles underlines the intensification of people’s struggles. They underscore that the memories of liberation struggles in the recent past against exploitation and dictatorship which this regime is keen to obliterate, are still alive and fresh in people’s minds. These patriotic memories are still festering. Liberation struggles will continue in various ways, various forms. Ukombozi Review is available as always to amplify and connect these struggles
