Movements
Political movements
Moving towards nothing but social change
Towards all that is politically impossible
A force for consciousness
Laced with love for Country
And her People

Movements
Moving together towards Liberation
And people based solutions
The only action against all forms of oppression
And exploitation
A gesticulation
A drift
Towards a peoples revolution
Uprisings of the people
Peoples Power

Movements
Let’s begin with some beginnings
Yusuf bin Hassan
Aka Don Geronimo
1630
Defeated the Portuguese
And took control of Fort Jesus
Led the Great Mombasa resistance
Routed out the Portuguese from the Kenyan Coast
And made them retreat to Mozambique.

At the beginning
With the Queen of the Free
Freedom
Me-Katilili wa Menza

Begin on the frontlines
In the forests of desires
With Dedan Kimathi
Mau Mau

Begin in labour movements
With Makhan Singh
Cege wa Kibacia
Many more
The lions of Trade Unionism in Kenya
Moving mountains of labor
Towards a free Africa

Movements
Speaking in one voice to the crest of power
Escalating workers’ rights
Against little or no pay

Movements
Remember to Remember
Denis Akumu
Peter Young Kihara
Oyangi Mbajjah
Chelagat Mutai
Muungano wa Kuikomboa Kenya –
Mwakenya
Many patriots
Many movements

Movements
Begin in the slums
Informal settlements made out of greed
Begin in the hearts of a people
Speaking in one voice
One community
One people
One country
One love

Movements
Begin with you and me
Are you
In unity
Honesty
Towards a common destiny
The only journey
Towards change
The only consistent thing
And constant
In life

Movements
Exodus of people
Awakening
Arising
Understanding
The only solution
Towards Freedom
And Liberation!
